The only good is that I've also noticed that shift toward respech for individual choice. The current 20-somethings seem to have more of the attitude my generation had growing up: "There's no way in hell you'll EVER get me on a motorcycle. But that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with motorcycles or motorcycle enthusiasts."

I'm actually quite optimistic long term as the young folk seem to have no tolerance at all for the nonsense so many of the 30-50 year old crowd are hell bent on shoving down everyone's throat.

I've heard the chaos currently going on referred to as a swan song, terminal lucididty, terminal energy burst, etc. In this case they know they've lost the war so they're determined to cause as much destruction as possible on their way out.

The points you make seem to have a common cause: The irresitible urge an increasing number of people have to prescribe, proscribe, bloviate, & pontificate upon topics they know perfectly well they are not qualified to. This is usually accompanied by a refusal to engage with the actual facts of the issue.

For me, only thing that has had any effect at all is becoming a broken record. Just rewording and saying over and over and over, "Other people have had very different experiences with that." There seems to be an epidemic of Semmelweiss Reflex that arrived with Covid but hasn't begun to recede.... so a rational discussion is a non-starter.

The other thing I've learned is to pick my battles. I've a slew orthopedic issues that are both very visible and well-documented. Nonetheless, there're a number of people who insist they're totally psychosomatic. They've picked that delusion as their hill to die on and my challenge is to accept that I'm incapable of changing their reality denial.
